Training is Coming!

At Marta's, we are very excited to begin offering dog training in the summer of 2010!   Our focus this summer will be on basic skills.

Carrie, our former General Manager, is in the process of completing her dog training program through Penn Foster, which is endorsed by the American Veterinary  Medical Association (AVMA).  Carrie has been with Marta's for over 8 years and has numerous certifications from various animal medical programs she has participated in over the years.  Now, she is starting her dog training internship and would like to teach these basic steps in 14 days.   If your pet goes to day care @ Martas or boards @ Martas and you would like your pet to participate in her free internship program please call our office and ask for Carrie.  10 seats are available.   At the end of her training you will also be taught  the techniques used during classes so that you can continue on with these skills at home.

Some pet owners want their dog to learn some basic skills.  These include focus, sit, sit & stay, down, down/stay, come, and heel on a leash.  Although these skills seem simple they are not always easy to teach.  If you are like most people,  you work and don't have time or you find your dog isn't paying attention to what you want him or her to do.    Training your dog these basic steps improves your relationship by establishing good communication skills between you and your pet and forms a bond that lasts a lifetime.

We will be signing clients up for basic training classes starting this spring!  Let us know if you are interested!
